Books in 2025
My reading of books in particular has reduced significantly over the past 5 years and I am unable to put a finger on what the root cause is. There are a few contenders - time spent with children, articles etc but none very persuasive as I do have the time to read ~25 pages at least every day. I have also started perhaps 20+ books and finished less than a quarter of them. But my mental state has varied quite a bit and I have been physically tired quite a bit during the year, thanks in part to running higher mileage than in prev years and also 2 intense months of swimming in the summer. Anyway, this is what I managed this year (in no particular order)
- The Running Ground by Nicholas Thompson
- Don't call it a comeback by Keira D'Amato*
- Beginners by Tom Vanderbilt
- Shoemaker by Joe Foster (co-founder of Reebok)
- Running with Purpose by Jim Weber (ex-CEO of Brooks)
- Even More Bad Parenting Advice by Guy DeLisle (graphic novel)
- Ballistic by Henry Abbott
- When Running Made History by Roger Robinson
- Play to Potential by Deepak Jayaraman
- The explorer's gene by Alex Hutchinson
- Talent Lab by Owen Slot
- Running Smart by Mariska van Sprundel
- The man who beat the markets by Gregory Zuckerman
- So good they can't ignore you by Cal Newport
- You look like a thing and I love you by Janelle Shane*
It is unlikely but possible that I have missed a few books since I read across my Kindle, phone (reading apps), hard copies, iPad etc. And I have become lousier at keeping track although I have taken a corrective measure by installing ReadWise this yr again (thanks to Ramanand for the inspiration). Let's see if I do a better job of tracking my reading in 2026
*women authors. Both amazing reads
