Running in Gurgaon

Ran about 6 km on Wed, 8 km y'day and 21 km today.
The best part about today's run is that I ran from Gurgaon to Delhi, after a gap of almost 5 years...
Felt good.
Advice to other people who want to try - Use MG Road rather than NH-8. Less vehicles atleast when you start off around 6 am or so...
Since I haven't managed to get to home in Bombay in over 3 weeks, I am still running in an old pair of Asics, in which I usually don't run more than a half

Catharsis

Once in a while - both in life and work, one experiences what is a completely cleansing experience which ensures everything else is put on hold and the mind goes thru the entire spectrum of emotions from despair to relief, if not a certain smugness accompanying the triumph over a difficult situation. The last 40 hrs in which I have slept about 3 hrs has been one such.

And occasionally, digging deep into one's own reserves of mental energy and physical resilience, reinforces one's feeling of being alive in difficult moments. There are other ways to know one is alive and this one is not my personal choice, but this variety is rarely a voluntary choice.

And of course, Murphy rules...

Thank you...

The Good Life...

I just finished listening (yeah, I am listening to it, less time to read these days :( ) to Alain De Botton's How Proust can change your life...
While Proust sounds very pretentious in parts, one basic thing that he drives home (or atleast Botton drives for him) is that life can be really enjoyable without luxuries.

Quite appropriately so, a senior colleague took me home for lunch and I literally experienced a slice of his life - his cute kid and all, ensuring I don't miss family (God bless them)...

And of course, there were the runs.

As I wrote sometime ago*,
What need I have for this, What need I have for that,
I am dancing at the feet of my lord, All is bliss, All is bliss...

Thank God for a nice ordinary Sunday

Back to Gurgaon

Am back to running in Gurgaon after a little over 5 years...
Ran 6 km y'day and about 12 km this morning. The landscape is barely recognizable with more than twice the no. of buildings that used to exist when I was here last...

Ran in an old pair of Asics. So that pair of NB is not getting the mileage it needs

Run on Sunday

After a week of twiddling around and not doing much in life, ran 9.6 km in 46:58 today. I am getting into the dangerous zone of not even running 2 days a week now :(

Must admit I am happy with the pace today though. Perhaps it was the food last night at ITC Sonar Bangla.

New NB shoes...
