Library Sale Fiend, Bargain Book hunter...
I have used my stay in the US over the past few weeks to get some books at much lower prices than I'd get them in India or get them at all. Only two of them was bought at anything close to 50% of its MRP and that too because it was not widely available.
Anyways, here are the spoils
The Pillars of Hercules by Paul Theroux
A Book of Ages by Hanson
The Guinea Pig Diaries by A.J. Jacobs
Explorers Extraordinary by John Keay
Sweet Tooth by Ian McEwan
Pretty Girl in Crimson Rose (8): A Memoir of Love, Exile, and Crosswords by Sandy Balfour#
Pretty Girl in Crimson Rose (8): A Memoir of Love, Exile, and Crosswords by Sandy Balfour#
Calories and corsets: a history of dieting by Louise foxcroft#
Seeing Voices by Oliver Sacks*
Most of the above from the Palo Alto Public Library Sale
# from Amazon used books, although I got a fantastic copy which looks new
* from the Saratoga Public Library Sale
The other good news is that I am also using my vacation to read like a maniac from the library, more than compensating for 2013. So 2014 will surely be a good year from that perspective. Much unlike my usual self, I also managed to give away two books I hadn't even read and which were in mint condition, as gifts to some friends who are also bibliophiles, incl one who got initiated into the madness of book sales and plunged into it heartily :)
